The wine tasting room at our Sonoita winery is an elegant yet relaxed space where you can try our award-winning wines. Enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery in Arizona's original wine country, see our vineyard, and find your new favorite wine. You can also visit us at our Ventana tasting room and pair our varietals with delicious tapas.
Sonoita Wine Tasting Room
Located just one hour south of Tucson in the heart of the Empire Mountain plateau, this location embraces the beginning of our home, heritage, and Arizona's wine culture. Sonoita is the original Arizona wine region and is one of two American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) in our state. Arizona's wine-growing history dates back to the 1690s and the AVA was established in 1984. The complex soil is well-suited for growing many different types of grapes and we offer a varied selection of wines for you to try. While here, we are confident that you will find your new favorite.
Our tasting room enjoys stunning views of our surrounding mountain landscapes, vast high-desert rolling grasslands, and our beautiful estate vineyard. Come and enjoy a taste of where our history began. We also host special events, so be sure to stay up to date on our website so you don't miss out.
Tucson Wine Tasting Room
Located in the heart of the Tucson foothills, our quaint tasting room has beautiful views of the Catalina Mountains. You'll find us inside Ventana Plaza next to Ginza and Sierra Fitness. Like our Sonoita winery, this location also hosts events and live music. We opened our Tucson tasting room in October 2018. We included a tapas kitchen because small savory bites can greatly enhance your wine experience. The food is delicious and pairs excellently with our award-winning Spanish varietals. Our menu features charcuterie, meatballs with mushrooms, grilled goat cheese queso blanco, and many more choices. In addition to our regular menu, we have a rotating selection of specials that include local ingredients whenever possible.
Come visit our cozy yet classy venue and enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious bite to eat. Our tasting room is the perfect place to socialize with other wine lovers, so be sure to bring your friends and family. If you visit us on Saturday or Sunday, you can enjoy our brunch menu, which of course includes our wines and mimosas.
The Wine Tasting Experience
A Wine for Everyone
At Wilhelm Family Vineyards, we offer a wide range of high-quality wines and you are sure to find something you will love.
Our white wines are crisp, light, and make a perfect start to your tasting experience. You can try our 2019 Estate Verdejo, which has subtly sweet tropical notes of citrus blossom, lychee, and banana on the nose. We also offer an Albariño with notes of lemon, apricot, and tangy grapefruit pith.
Rosé wine, also called rosado, is incredibly refreshing and may have been the first type of wine to be produced in history. At our tasting rooms, you can sample our rosé wines, including our 2018 Estate varietal. This is a rosado made from Garnacha grapes. It has luscious fruity notes of green apple, grapefruit, and peach.
Red wines remain the most popular option among wine drinkers and different varietals have different flavor profiles. Wilhelm Family Vineyards has both dry and sweet options, including blends, reserves, and estate wines.
If you prefer sweet and/or flavored wines, you should try our dessert wines. We have a unique selection that includes butterscotch-flavored white wine, chocolate mint red wine, and many more. For something more classic, you can enjoy our decadent red dessert wine, Sunset.
For a refreshing option, you can try our Sangrias. We have options made with red and white wine and include unique and delicious flavors. This includes classic citrus, bold jalapeño, and more.
Tips for Wine Tasting
Don't Wear Perfume or Cologne
To get the most out of your wine tasting experience, we recommend avoiding any strong fragrances. Your perfume or cologne can overpower the aroma and flavor of the wines.
Our team is here to help you have the best tasting experience possible. We are happy to answer your questions about how our wines are made, what grapes we use, the aging process, or anything else that you are curious about. Learning more about the wines you try can give you some insight into their creation and help you appreciate them even more. We can also answer any questions you have about the tasting process.
Consider Trying New Wines
Even if you normally prefer one type of wine, consider trying some new varieties. A wine tasting is a perfect time to explore wines you wouldn't normally drink. You may even find your new favorite.
Write Down Your Experience
Taking notes during your tasting can help you remember which wines you liked and which you didn't. There's no right or wrong way to do this. Your notes don't have to be formal and you can simply write what you think of each variety you try. This helps you learn more about your preferences and get an idea of how different types of wine typically taste to you.
Visit Our Tasting Rooms
A visit to either of our tasting rooms is sure to be a wonderful experience whether it's by yourself, with your partner, or with a group of friends. Enjoy our delicious wines and the lovely scenery surrounding our vineyard or Tucson location. We look forward to meeting you.
